SEORecovering Traffic After a Failed Website MigrationSEO recovery after migration in the right order: diagnose the traffic drop, fix redirects, rebuild internal links, request reindexing, then report progress.SEO Data That Actually Guides Decisions
SEO analytics that leads to action: the Search Console reports, rank tracking uses and SEO KPIs to read each month, and the decision each one should drive.

SEO analytics is only useful when each report leads to a decision: which page to fix, which topic to write next, which technical issue to escalate, or whether search is producing enquiries at all. Most of that comes from Google Search Console and your analytics and CRM data, read in a set order. This guide lists the reports worth reading and the specific decision each one supports.
What SEO analytics should actually answer
Before adding another chart, write down the questions the business needs answered each month. For most UAE service or ecommerce sites, the list is short:
- Is organic search bringing in enquiries, bookings or sales, and is that rising or falling?
- Which pages win visibility, and which are seen but not clicked?
- Which queries are close to the first page and worth a push?
- Has anything broken: pages dropping out of the index, templates slowing down, a migration losing traffic?
Search Console analysis: the reports that drive decisions
The Performance report in Google Search Console is the most direct record of how your site appears in Google. It shows clicks, impressions, click through rate and average position, and lets you slice them by query, page, country, device, search appearance and date, as described in Google's Performance report documentation. Two details matter when reading it. Average position in the chart is the topmost position your site held, while in the table it is calculated per row. And some queries are anonymised for privacy, so query totals will not match page totals.
Pages with high impressions and low click through rate
Sort the Pages tab by impressions and look for pages that are seen often but rarely clicked. The decision here is usually about the search result itself: rewrite the title and meta description so they match what the searcher wants, or check whether the page answers a different question from the one people are asking.
Queries sitting just off the first page
Filter the Queries tab to the last three months and look for terms where the average position sits roughly between the bottom of page one and the middle of page two. These are the cheapest gains. The decision is to strengthen the page that ranks: add the missing subtopics, improve internal links to it, and make sure it is the only page targeting that intent.
One query, several pages
Click a query, then open the Pages tab. If two or three URLs share the impressions for the same term, they may be competing. The decision is to choose one page as the owner, merge or redirect the weaker one, or rewrite it to target a different intent.
Country and device splits
A UAE business often gets impressions from India, Pakistan, the UK and elsewhere for terms it cannot serve. Filter to the United Arab Emirates before judging trends. Then compare mobile and desktop: a page that ranks on desktop but loses clicks on mobile often has a layout or speed problem rather than a content problem.
Date comparisons after a change
Compare equal periods before and after a redesign, migration or content update, and filter to the pages that changed. This is the report that tells you whether to roll back, keep going or extend the change to other templates. If you are planning a rebuild, our checklist for redesigning without losing rankings sets the baseline you will need.

Technical health reports that protect traffic
Performance data tells you what is happening; Search Console's other reports often tell you why.
- Page indexing. Watch the number of indexed pages and the reasons pages are excluded. A sudden rise in "not found" or "redirect error" entries after a release is a decision to fix before anything else.
- Core Web Vitals. This groups URLs by template and status. Poor results on a template that carries revenue pages is a decision to brief developers, not to write more content.
If traffic has already fallen after a platform change, the steps in recovering traffic after a failed migration start from these same reports.
Rank tracking: useful in a narrow role
Rank tracking tools check positions for a fixed list of keywords on a schedule. They are useful for watching a small set of commercial terms daily, for tracking competitors on the same terms, and for monitoring local results in a specific city, which Search Console does not show directly.
They are less useful as a headline metric, because results vary by location, device and personalisation, and one tracked position ignores the many longer queries a good page ranks for. Use rank tracking to spot sudden drops on priority terms, then confirm in Search Console before acting.
SEO KPIs that connect search to revenue
Search Console stops at the click. To show whether SEO pays for itself, connect organic sessions to actions on the site and then to the CRM. In Google Analytics 4, the actions you care about are marked as key events; Google now uses that name for what most teams used to call conversions, as Google Analytics help explains.
| SEO KPI | Where it comes from | Decision it supports |
|---|---|---|
| Non branded clicks from the UAE | Search Console, query filter excluding brand terms | Is search reaching new buyers, or only people who already know you? |
| Organic key events (form, call, WhatsApp click, booking) | GA4, organic search channel | Which landing pages produce enquiries and deserve more investment? |
| Qualified leads from organic | CRM, with source captured on the form | Is organic lead quality comparable to paid channels? |
| Indexed pages versus pages submitted | Search Console page indexing | Is there a technical fault to fix first? |
| Template pass rate for Core Web Vitals | Search Console Core Web Vitals report | Which template needs development time? |
Track enquiries properly before judging SEO. Calls and WhatsApp messages are a large share of enquiries for many UAE businesses, and if they are not captured as key events, organic search will look weaker than it is.
Building SEO reporting that people read
Monthly: one page, five numbers, three actions
The monthly report should fit on one screen: the KPIs from the table above, what changed and why, and the three actions planned for next month.
Quarterly: content and technical review
Once a quarter, pull the full page and query lists, group pages by topic, and decide which topics to expand, merge or retire. This is also the moment to review the scope of any agency contract; our guide to enterprise SEO contract scope covers what reporting to ask for.
Hypothetical example: a Dubai dental clinic sees impressions for its implants page rise while clicks stay flat. The query report shows most impressions come from questions about recovery time, which the page barely mentions. The decision is to add a clear recovery section and an updated title. A month later, the team checks the same page and query filter to see whether click through rate moved, and whether booking requests from that page rose in the CRM.
Turn your search data into a plan with Codeeo
Codeeo's digital marketing and SEO team sets up the tracking, reads these reports with you and turns them into a prioritised list of fixes and content, including local SEO for businesses that depend on searches near them. If you want a starting point, a technical SEO review checks indexing, templates and tracking before any reporting is built. The team works from an office in Dubai, so UAE clients can meet in person. Contact Codeeo to talk through your current data.
Frequently asked questions
Check Search Console for errors weekly, since indexing and security problems need fast action.
